Ayman Al-Shweiki

Biography

When Ayman came on the ITP in 2012 he was a student at Birzeit University and a volunteer in their museum. He worked to maintain the art and ethnographic collections, preserve them and archive them. Ayman also had administrative tasks including preparing for exhibitions and their openings. Aymans interests lie mainly with costumes and researching and getting to know the lifestyle of people in various historical periods.

In 2014 Ayman graduated from Birzeit University with a BA in Buisness Economics. In the same year he became an assistant of the collections director at Yasser Arafat Museum. In 2016 he moved to the Birzeit University Museum as a collection custodian and attended a fundraising course at the Goethe Institute. He also attended a workshop for museologists from Arab states at the Chinese Silk Museum. In January 2018 Ayman began his MA in world heritage studies at BTU Cottbus in Germany.

At the British Museum
During his time on the International Training Programme in 2012, Ayman was based in the Middle East Department and his partner placement was spent at National Museum Wales.

Ayman’s exhibition project proposal was entitled Reflection.

Legacy Projects
In 2015 Ayman travelled to SKD Museum in Dresden on an ITP Research Fellowship.
