Sarah Abdolattif Elsheekh Mohammed Elbasheer

Biography

Sarah has a BA from the department of Archaeology at the University of Khartoum. She focused on Ancient Egyptian medicines and mummification in the Nile valley. Sarah currently works at the National Museum of Sudan as a curator, where her duties are divided into three sections: exhibitions, documentation and storage. She is particularly interested in display and is working on the museum’s project to renovate the main hall and rewrite showcase labels.

Sarah also gives tours of the museum to visitors, works in the store rooms and is an inspector for archaeological sites in Sudan.

Before working as a curator for NCAM Sarah worked as an inspector for various foreign missions working on archaeological excavations at sites including Benganarti, Meroe (Royal City), Sabaloka and Khor Shambat.

In 2016 Sarah attended training in restoration at the China National Silk Museum and delivered a paper at the Meroitic Conference in Prague on the glass industry in the Meroitic period.

At the British Museum
During her time on the International Training Programme, Sarah was based in the Department of Egypt and Sudan, and spent her partner placement at the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology.

Sarah worked with Yohana Frias on her Object in focus project, Hunt Krater: A Journey of Culture.
