Roshan Mishra

Biography

Roshan studied Art & Animation in the UK and worked as an Interior Designer before joining Taragaon Museum in 2014, as the Director of the museum and head of the archives and library of The Saraf Foundation for Himalayan Traditions and Culture, the patron organization of the Museum. Roshan is involved in a number of projects which aim to open other museums in Kathmandu. He also teaches at the Kathmandu University.

In his current role he meets lots of art, heritage and culture based professionals. His primary focus at the museum is to collect, document and display the works of foreign scholars who lived in Nepal and documented its heritage, tradition, history and culture. Roshan is particularly interested in the contemporary art world and works with lots of young and upcoming contemporary artists. He often curates exhibitions at the Museum which create a dialogue with the artist and art community so that the museum has recently become an art hub for the upcoming artist in Nepal. Roshan is also working on surveying the Bungamati site of historical interest, damaged by the earthquake in 2015. As an artist Roshan enjoys working on conceptual themes for him art works, he has exhibited his works in Nepal and abroad.

At the British Museum Roshan was particularly interested to gain further insight into exhibitions, libraries and archives and collections databases.

During his time on the International Training Programme, Roshan was based in the Middle East Department, and spent his partner placement at Glasgow Museums.

Roshan worked with Hoda Abulgheni El Chayah (Lebanon) on his Object in Focus project, A Story of a Youth.

Legacy Projects
In October 2019 Roshan participated in the ITP MA Conference programme in Brighton. With fellows from Egypt, India, Armenia and China, Roshan attended a programme structured around the 3-day MA Conference on Sustainable and Ethical Museums in a Globalised World.
