Biography
Saleh has a BA in Archaeology from Benghazi University and a Diploma in Archaeological Science. He worked as a History teacher before moving into the museum field. He has worked on the excavations of Euspiredes in Benghazi and in the city of Ajdabiya.
Saleh joined the ITP network in 2012 as an archaeologist for the Department of Libyan Antiquities. Since then he has become the Director of the department of museums for the department of Antiquities in Benghazi, and manages museums in his day to day work. As director Saleh has focused on recording and documenting museum collections, both on display and in stores. Saleh has endured difficult times as director, poor security has meant that museums have been closed and reopened over the years.
He has taken part in training on registration and documentation from Oberlin University, administration of AMIDEAST in Tunisia and in museum management at the Louvre Museum, as well as the ITP.
At the British Museum
During his time on the International Training Programme in 2012, Saleh was based in the Department of Greece and Rome and his partner placement was spent at Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums, Newcastle.
Saleh’s exhibition project proposal was entitled Olympic Heroes.
