Biography

Chen Li has been working in Nanjing Museum since 2013. She is mainly in charge of international loans. If any foreign museum intends to borrow objects from Nanjing Museum or Nanjing Museum would like to borrow an object, Chen Li is the contact to finalise the list, the agreement, the timeline, installation and de-installation arrangements and so on.

In the past few years, Nanjing Museum has cooperated with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the British Museum, the National Museum of Scotland, the Royal Ontario Museum in Canada, La Caixa Banking Foundation in Spain, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, State Russian Museum, Kyushu National Museum in Japan, Auckland Museum and so on. The exhibition Romantic Scotland, comprising of objects from the National Galleries of Scotland, was  shown at Nanjing Museum in 2017.

At the British Museum
During her time on the International Training Programme 2017, Chen Li was based in the Asia Department and she spent her partner placement at Glasgow Museums.

In 2017 participants were asked to develop a proposal for an Asahi Shimbun Display – a temporary exhibition in Room 3 at the British Museum – based around a ‘spotlight’ object.  Chen Li worked with fellow Thi Thi Phyo (Myanmar) on her exhibition proposal project, entitled How to Behave at Court: Burma and China.
