Online events

Knowledge Exchange is a national programme developed by the British Museum and supported by the Vivmar Foundation.  It enables the British Museum to partner with a diverse range of museums, galleries and heritage organisations across the UK, supporting staff to share knowledge, skills and best practice and promoting their individual professional development.

Each year, the National Programmes team hosts a major conference at the British Museum. The conference is part of the British Museum’s Knowledge Share programme, which creates skills-sharing, training and professional development opportunities for colleagues in the UK museum and cultural heritage sector

Objectives

  • Share an overview of the British Museum’s Knowledge Share programmes.
  • How to create, develop and deliver a conference?  Where does the inspiration come from and how do you work with colleagues – and the wider sector – to make it happen?
  • What does the conference hope to achieve?  What is the Museum’s aim?
  • Why and how was the decision made to take the conference online?
  • What have been the challenges and learning outcomes of the past year and how has the conference been adapted?
  • What is the future of online events at the British Museum?
