Renovations and reforms at the Indian Museum

Last month, an article was published in The Times of India – Kolkata about the changes begin made in the Indian Museum, and featuring the work ITP participant Sayan Bhattacharya.

Sayan attended the ITP in 2009, when he was working as a Programme Assistant at the Centre for Archaeological Studies in Eastern India. In 2011 he joined the Indian Museum, as Officer on Special Duty (Education), and as you can read in the article, he enthusiastically began working on re-envisioning the educational mission of the museum.

“We have started with live exhibitions where heritage, history, living civilization and tradition are showcased in a common space. We displayed the rich tradition of puppetry and held puppet shows in the courtyard. There was another on sports and leisure activities across the ages with a three-day workshop on making and flying kites. On the final day, 10 traditional paper lanterns (phanush) were released from the rooftop. The activities were a major hit with visitors.” – Sayan Bhattacharya
