The British Museum’s International Engagement team had a busy and exciting 2016, with a range of exhibitions, training initiatives and other heritage projects globally.

In 2016, the international engagement team:

  • toured objects to 4 different continents

  • received over 450,000 visitors to touring exhibitions worldwide

Here are some highlights, with a few projects you may recognise from ITP sessions!

China:

March – round table and symposium  at Tate Britain on the UK-China cultural exchange project funded by DCMS.

December – Representatives of the Asia department attended the UK-China High-Level People to People Dialogue in Shanghai to formalise agreements with National Museum of China to display the exhibition A History of the World in 100 Objects in 2017. The exhibition will also open at Shanghai Museum in 2017.
