Claire Messenger – Manager, International Training Programme

I wanted to let you know that sadly this summer, Birmingham Museums Trust (BMT) won’t be one of the partners on the International Training Programme. As some of you will know, Adam Jaffer left BMT at the end of last year for a new position as Collections Officer at the Peoples History Museum in Manchester http://www.phm.org.uk/ and while they recruit a replacement, Birmingham are taking a break from the programme this year.

Meanwhile, I’m delighted to announce that Norfolk Museums Service (NMS) have very kindly agreed to partner with us for 2017 (and hopefully beyond) and take up to 4 participants this summer.  The service covers the county of Norfolk and their museums include Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery ; Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell; Strangers’ Hall ; Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse; Lynn Museum; Ancient House Museum of Thetford Life; Elizabethan House Museum; Tolhouse Gaol; Time and Tide Museum of Great Yarmouth Life and Cromer Museum

A fascinating and diversity portfolio which you can find out more about here http://www.museums.norfolk.gov.uk/

Our contact there is going to be Sarah Gore, Teaching Museum Manager of the award-winning Teaching Museum trainee programme https://nmsteachingmuseum.wordpress.com/

We are looking forward to our alumni discovering more about NMS over the coming months – particularly when our fellows 2017 are based there from 17th July – 26th July.

And both Birmingham Museums Trust and Adam will remain an essential part of our ITP network of course and we are hoping to work with them both again in the future.
