Hayk arrives: Senior Fellow 2017

Hayk Mkrtchyan, Senior Fellow 2017

I arrived in sunny London on the afternoon of Saturday 3rd June.  After an hour long car journey from Heathrow Terminal 4 my taxi dropped me off at my lovely flat in Camden.

I left my heavy suitcase, full of presents, to walk around the city of London. I walked past places I visited when I came on the ITP in 2014: Schafer House, The British Museum, Westminster Bridge, and London Bridge. Later that day I visited an exhibition on ‘Russian Revolution: Hope, Tragedy, Myths’ at the British Library.

After a long two days in London, I was happy to arrive at the Information Desk in the Great Court of the British Museum on 5th June at 10am sharp.  I met Becca who assisted me with receiving my keys, staff passes and gave me a general introduction to the Department of Ancient Egypt and Sudan, where I will be based during my stay. I met with Claire and John (the new member of ITP team) and other members of the department.

Shortly after I arrived I sat down with the ITP team for a brief overview of the programme, my role and responsibilities over the next 3 months.

Later in the afternoon I looked through the profiles of the 2017 Fellows, making a simple analysis on their professional background, current work and general interests. We are going to have great time in the UK this Summer!
