As Director of the Training Department at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Nagwa’s role focuses on two main areas.
(1) Capacity building and professional development were day-to-day, she coordinates with museum departments to identify training needs, design session plans, communicate with trainers or partner institutions, and schedule and evaluate training activities. She also reviews feedback and adjusts future programmes accordingly. The trainings reflect national priorities such as sustainability, climate change, gender equity, and heritage education. Nagwa works with government entities, NGOs, and foreign institutes to ensure relevance and quality.
(2) Community learning, were Nagwa plans and leads monthly workshops for the public, selecting timely themes and coordinating logistics, speakers, and outreach. Recently she organized a workshop on the journey of the Holy Family in Egypt, where young travellers who had cycled over 350 km along the route shared their experience with the audience. The event sparked rich discussions about pilgrimage, heritage, and modern travel narratives, attracting new audiences engaged in cultural tourism, digital storytelling, and travel literature through both areas.
Nagwa ensures the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization functions not only as a site of preservation but also as a responsive, educational space rooted in community participation.
We are delighted to be able to support Nagwa this year and look forward to hearing more about her conference experience and sharing her final report with our ITP global network.
