Biography
Vineet works as Senior Manager – Exhibitions at the Museum of Art & Photography (MAP) Bengaluru. He has been with the museum since its inception and was part of MAP’s foundation team. Over the years, he has played a key role in shaping the museum’s exhibition programme.
Vineet is passionate about museums and has found his niche in exhibition production and museum management. He enjoys working on the planning and logistics of exhibitions – coordinating teams, considering conservation and display needs, making museums accessible and ensuring smooth workflows behind the scenes.
At MAP, Vineet is responsible for the coordination, design, and execution of both permanent and temporary exhibitions and displays across the museum. In a year, he manages around 8 to 10 exhibitions of varying scales, including travelling shows. His role involves close collaboration with multiple departments, such as collections, curatorial, conservation, facilities, accessibility, and inclusion, ensuring each exhibition comes together smoothly and effectively.
MAP is a young museum, and Vineet and his team are focused on developing policies and procedures to help standardise its operations. As the collection grows and partnerships with national and international institutions increase, Vineet is working to put systems in place that meet international standards.
Vineet has also been a part of the museum’s staff welfare committee and is currently a part of the museum’s Internal Committee for the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the workplace which is mandated by the government.
At the British Museum
During his time at the British Museum, Vineet was based in the Asia Department and his UK partner placement was spent at Manchester Art Gallery, Manchester Museum and Whitworth Art Gallery.
Vineet’s participation in the International Training Programme was generously supported by the Simon Digby Memorial Charity.
