Biography

Esra is an archaeologist working at the Ephesus Museum in Türkiye. Esra is involved in exhibitions, collections management, and museum education programmes.

Within her role, Esra is responsible for a wide range of responsibilities at the Ephesus Museum, including organising museum storage areas; conducting archaeological field surveys and preparing reports; carrying out drilling and rescue excavations; cataloguing excavation finds and guiding different groups visiting Ephesus and the museum.

At the museum, Esra serves as the exhibition manager – in which she also coordinates and implements museum education activities for preschool and primary school groups, as well as students with special educational needs.

Esra’s professional interests include conservation conditions in museum storage facilities; archaeological artefact storage management; collection conservation and documentation; content and layout of permanent/temporary exhibitions; planning and implementation of museum education programmes that connect museums with children and local communities; and developing practical content that raise awareness about the preservation of sustainable cultural heritage.

At the British Museum

During her time on the International Training Programme, Esra was based in the Greece and Rome Department. Her UK Partner Placement was spent at North East Museums.
