Slemani Museum

Slemani Museum (Sulaymaniayh Museum) is an archeological museum which is located within heart of the city of Sulaymaniyah, Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Kurdistan Region, Iraq.The museum was established in 1961 and moved to its current building in 1979. It boasts the second largest collection in Iraq, after the National Museum of Iraq in Baghdad. Its artefacts date from the pre-historic period to the late Islamic and Ottoman eras. The museum has undergone periods of closure during times of conflict, but has been steadily open since the year 2000. A closure for refurbishment is taking place in 2018 – 2019. (Wikipedia)
