Jalil Khan

Biography

Jalil currently serves as an Archaeologist at the Department of Archaeology and Museums (DoAM), Government of Pakistan, where he contributes to the national initiative ‘Establishment of a Research & Development Centre to Promote the Soft Image of Pakistan through Cultural Heritage.’

Jalil’s work focuses on developing and implementing strategies for documentation, preservation and digital presentation of collections, ensuring broader access to Pakistan’s archaeological heritage. Jalil collaborates with curators, conservators, designers, and educators to create exhibitions and outreach programmes that engage the public and highlight Pakistan’s cultural diversity. Additionally, Jalil supports capacity building workshops and interpretive planning aimed at improving museum communication and visitor experience.

Through his role, Jalil bridges the gap between heritage policy and on-ground museum practice, contributing to the modernisation of national museums and promoting cultural diplomacy. Jalil is particularly committed to integrating inclusive approaches and digital tools that connect communities with their heritage – a position which allows him to influence both institutional strategy and public engagement.

Personally, Jalil is committed to inclusive museology, cross-cultural dialogue, and the responsibility of stewardship of heritage.

Jalil holds an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree in Architecture and Landscape Archaeology from Sapienza University of Rome (2024) and a Bachelor of Science Archaeology (2021).

During his time on the International Training Programme, Jalil was based in the Asia Department. His UK Partner Placement was spent at Lincoln Museum and University of Nottingham Museum.
