Pattayarach Thamwongsa

Biography

Pattayarach works as a Collection Storage Manager and serves as Assistant Director at the National Discovery Museum Institute (NDMI), Thailand. Pattayarach has a background in Art History. Architectural History, and Museum Studies. Her career has included roles as Curator at Suan Pakkad Palace Museum, Lecturer in Cultural Tourism, Freelance Museum Researcher and Art Historian.

Since joining NDMI in 2013, Pattayarach has led and managed major projects, including the Museum Festival, the ASEAN Museum Forum, and various international collaboration initiatives during her first six years working in Museum Networking. Currently, her work focuses on collections management, object research, training and museum partnerships at both national and international levels.

Pattayarach oversees storage systems, documentation, exhibition installation, object packing and housing, and preventive care – while also contributing to professional capacity building by leading training programmes for museum networks and collaborating with ICCROM on the RE-ORG methodology.

Pattayarach’s research centres on nineteenth-century European ceramics found in Thailand, exploring their significance within broader contexts of cultural exchange between Europe and Asia.

At the British Museum

During her time on the International Training Programme, Pattayarach was based in the Asia Department. Her UK Partner Placement was spent at Manchester Museum, Manchester Art Gallery and Whitworth Art Gallery.
