Biography

Francisco is a researcher at the Centre for Archaeology at the University of Lisbon, and a PhD candidate.

He previously worked as a consultant for archaeological research, and as a professor at the Universidade Estadual de Maringá. His research interests include Amazonian and southern Brazilian archaeology, ethnobiology, demography and material culture studies.

At the British Museum
During his time on the International Training Programme in 2011, Fransisco was based in the Department of Africa, Oceania and the Americas and his partner placement was spent at Manchester Art Gallery and Manchester Museum.

In 2011 participants were asked to develop a proposal for a small temporary exhibition using an object from the British Museum’s collections.  Francisco’s exhibition project proposal was entitled Same purpose, different approaches – social uses of tea in England, Turkey and Brazil.

Francisco’s place on the International Training Programme was generously supported by the State University of Maringá.
