Biography

When Makbule joined the ITP in 2012 she was a research assistant in the department of archaeology at Selcuk University, a role she began in 2001. Makbule was studying for a PhD and her thesis was entitled Karian city Coins and Evaluation of Coins found at Lagina Hecate Sanctuary.

In 2013 she finished her PhD thesis and became an Assistant Professor. She started to work at Gaziantep University and took on the role of Departmental Head between 2016- 2018. Makbule is also the head of the Archaeological Survey Project of Gaziantep Province, Oguzeli District.

At the British Museum

During her time on the International Training Programme in 2012, Makbule was based in the Greece and Rome Department and her partner placement was spent at Manchester Art Gallery and Manchester Museum.

In 2012, an element of the programme was a series of presentations, in which groups of participants presented a 10-minute illustrated talk, prompted by the task to consider a new display at the British Museum.  Makbule’s exhibition project proposal was entitled Crown.
