Biography

Li Zhongmou is currently the Deputy Director of Collection and Learning at the Hong Kong Palace Museum. Within this role, Li Zhongmou is responsible for collection, conservation, learning and public engagement, digital strategy and cultural exchange of the Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM).

Previously, Li Zhongmou was the Executive Director of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Museum.

During his time on the ITP in 2006, he was the Head of Exhibitions in the Shanghai Museum. Li Zhongmou was appointed as the Deputy Director of the museum in 2010 and held the position until early 2019. During this period, he was sent by Shanghai Municipal Government to Tibet for three-years’ secondment as the Deputy Director of the Culture Bureau of Shigatze from 2010-13, and then was again assigned to the Palace Museum in Beijing for one-year secondment as the Assistant Director and the Head of the Exhibition Department in 2014-15. In 2019, Li Zhongmou left the Shanghai Museum and got the position of the President of Shanghai Shimao Culture Development Company Limited and the Director of Shimao Maritime Silk Road Museum, Fujian Province. He resigned from Shimao Group after four-years’ service and joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2023.

At the British Museum
During his time on the International Training Programme in 2006, Zhongmou was based in the Department of Asia and his partner placement was at the National Museum of Wales.

Legacy Projects
In March 2010 Li Zhongmou attended the Cairo Conference Towards a global network, where he presented a paper on his experiences of the International Training Programme entitled An important platform of exchange.

Continued Dialogue
In 2016, Li Zhongmou delivered a paper and took part in a UK-China partnership symposium with Tate Britain, Victoria and Albert Museum, the British Museum and the British Library as part of the UK-China Year of Cultural Exchange.
