Ahmed Mohamed Hemida

Biography

As the Head of Central Administration for the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed is responsible for the technical and administrative supervision of all Egyptian regional museums. He works on programmes and policies to develop museum displays, community outreach, and training of museum teams.

Ahmed previously worked as Director General of the Akhenaten Museum in Minya. He is also a member of the UNESCO committee overseeing the rehabilitation of Mallawi Museum. In 2018 he assumed responsibility for supervising the museums of Upper Egypt, as well as his duties as general Director of the Akhenaten Museum. Ahmed also supervised the works on Sohag National Museum.

At the British Museum
During his time on the International Training Programme in 2016, Ahmed was based in the Department of Egypt and Sudan. His UK Partner Museum was Lincoln Museum and Nottingham University Museum. 

In 2016, participants were asked to develop a proposal for an Asahi Shimbun Display – a temporary exhibition in Room 3 at the British Museum – based around a single ‘spotlight’ object. Ahmed’s exhibition project proposal was entitled Hunting for Eternity.
