Biography

In his role at the Anatolian Civilisations Museum Okan is responsible for precious and semi precious gem stones, gold and jewellery within the collection. This involves research, preparation for exhibitions, documentation and storage.

Aside from his specialism in ancient jewellery and gem stones, Okan is currently planning for one of the museum’s rescue excavations, JULIOPOLIS. He also excavations upon request to provide specialist help from the museum, or in the event on an emergency. Within the museum, Okan enjoys welcoming foreign official delegations and introducing them to the collections.

At the British Museum
During his time on the International Training Programme, Okan was based in the Greece and Rome Department, and spent his partner placement at The Collection – Art and Archaeology in Lincolnshire and Nottingham University Museum.

Okan worked with Pankaj Protim Bordoloi (India) on his Object in focus project, Boats: Journey of Civilisations.
