In his role at the Anatolian Civilisations Museum Okan is responsible for precious and semi precious gemstones, gold and jewellery within the collection. This involves managing inventories, research, preparation for exhibitions, photography, documentation, and storage.

Aside from his specialism in ancient jewellery and gem stones, Okan is currently planning for one of the museum’s rescue excavations, JULIOPOLIS. He leads excavations upon request to provide specialist help from the museum or in the event on an emergency. Within the museum, Okan enjoys welcoming foreign official delegations and introducing them to the collections.

At the British Museum
During his time on the International Training Programme, Okan was based in the Greece and Rome Department, and spent his partner placement at The Collection – Art and Archaeology in Lincolnshire and Nottingham University Museum.

In 2018 participants were asked to plan and propose a temporary exhibition, drawing on their existing museum experience and the skills learnt during the programme.  Okan worked with Pankaj Protim Bordoloi (India) on his Object in focus project, Boats: Journey of Civilisations.
