Biography

Amani is a curator for the National Corportation for Antiquities and Museums and the Director of the Shikan Museum in Sudan. Shikan is one of the biggest forests in Sudan, made famous by a historic battle which took place there in 1883. As director of the museum Amani is responsible for storage, documentation, tours, exhibitions and education programmes for the general public. Amani also has an archaeological background and has taken part in archaeological surveys in her state, in order to collect local data for the museum.

Amani is particularly interested in exhibitions and education in museums and sees security, photography and storage as big projects to work on in her museum.

At the British Museum
During her time on the International Training Programme in 2014, Amani was based in the Department of Egypt and Sudan, and her partner placement was spent at the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology, Oxford.

Amani’s place on the programme was generously supported by Mrs. Michel David-Weill.
