Biography

Hemmat currently works as Curator in the Department of Islamic Ceramics at the Museum of Islamic Art.

At the British Museum
During her time on the International Training Programme in 2010, Hemmat was based in the Department of Egypt and Sudan and her partner placement was spent at The Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums, Newcastle.

In 2010 participants were asked to develop a proposal for a small temporary exhibition – based on British Museum objects – on some aspect of their own cultures.  Hemmat’s exhibition project proposal was entitled Fatimid Lustre Painted Ceramic.

Hemmat’s participation on the International Training Programme was generously supported by the Barakat Trust.
