Rasha Ali Attia Abd El-Mageid

Biography

Rasha works as a curator in the Alexandria National Museum. Her main responsibilities include condition checking the objects and leading tours around the museum. She is particularly interested in museum studies, making museums more accessible to all visitors, conservation and security.

She considers the ITP programme a point in life which changed her career as Rasha is now Head of the Temporary Exhibitions Department. Additional responsibilities include organising four temporary exhibitions annually.

Rasha is also working on a project to create special programmes for children and disabled people, to engage the museum with the local community through improving the museum’s education outreach.

In 2017 she received her Masters degree in Ancient Egyptian History (Ancient Egyptian Religion) and hopes to gain a PhD in the future.

At the British Museum
During her time on the International Training Programme in 2011, Rasha was based in the Department of Egypt and Sudan and her partner placement was spent at the National Museum of Wales.

In 2011 participants were asked to develop a proposal for a small temporary exhibition using an object from the British Museum’s collections. Rasha’s exhibition project proposal was entitled Zoning Out.
