Saad Ismail Mahmoud Amira

Biography

Since 2017, Saad Amira has been working as a Diplomatic Attaché. Saad has a Master’s degree in International Studies and has represented Palestine in various national and international venues, engaging in public diplomacy.

Saad was previously a Researcher and Project Coordinator for the Research and Collections Department at the Palestinian Museum. His research focus is colonial and post-colonial literature and the social history of modern Palestine. He is interested in the preservation of intangible heritage, including oral history, and took the lead on the Palestinian Journeys project at the Palestinian Museum from 2016-17.

At the British Museum
While attending the International Training Programme in 2015, Saad was based in the Middle East Department. His UK Partner museum was the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology, Oxford.

In 2015 participants were asked to plan and propose a temporary exhibition based on the physical space and concept of the Asahi Shimbun Displays in Room 3 at the British Museum.  Saad’s exhibition project proposal was entitled Palestinian Children are Stronger than Occupation.

Saad’s place on the International Training Programme was generously supported by the Aall Foundation.

Legacy Projects
In November 2015 Saad attended the ITP Mumbai Workshop Creating Museums of World Stories. The workshop was held at CSMVS and was attended by many ITP fellows from different years and countries, UK partners and British Museum Colleagues.
