Biography

Çandemir is a Director for Cultural Heritage and Museums, at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Turkish Republic. He specialises in the Illicit trafficking of cultural property. In 2023 he opened a new tourism travel library and baby and children’s library, as well as oversaw excavations in the ancient cities of Syedra and Phaselis.

In 2007, Çandemir completed his PhD at the Ankara University. Çandemir was project coordinator for the EU – Turkey Intercultural Dialogue Programme entitled ‘Scientific Techniques and Risk Management in Museums’, from October 2011-2012.

At the British Museum
During his time on the International Training Programme in 2007, Çandemir was based in the Department of Greece & Rome and his partner placement was spent at Lincoln Museum.

Legacy Projects
In March 2010 Çandemir attended the Cairo Conference Towards a global network where he presented a paper on what he had gained, both professionally and personally, from attending the ITP and his career development since the programme.
