Section Chief, International Cooperation and Exchange Office
ITP Year: 2023
He Yulei has worked at Mogao Grottoes, Dunhuang Academy, since 2007 so recognises the true value of this site. Her experience in the International Cooperation and Exchange Office has lead her to develop an interest and understanding of the importance of international culture promotion and exchange.
He Yulei’s current role includes liaising with international institutions, receiving international guests and VIP donors, and taking responsibility for activity relating to foreign affairs. She also organises international culture exchange programmes and activities and translates cultural exchange material.
Her professional interests include the collections of Dunhuang manuscripts and cave temples.
At the British Museum
During He Yulei’s time on the International Training Programme she was based in the Asia Department and spent her UK partner placement at National Museums Northern Ireland.H
As an ongoing project throughout the six-week programme, fellows were asked to use their existing skills and experience, and the knowledge gained throughout the annual programme, to create, develop, and propose a new interpretation for an object currently on display in the British Museum. Working in her departmental group, He Yulei used their object, a Bencharong bowl, to explore the history of the object through cross cultural exchange.
He Yulei’s participation on the International Training Programme was generously supported by the Sino-British Fellowship Trust.
