Biography

As Manager for Education, Shubhasree is responsible for heading the formal learning sector at MAP,  primarily comprising of school groups and educators, and ensuring continued engagements from these stakeholders. Shubhasree leads a project called Schools@MAP, where she conceptualizes, strategizes and designs programmes and educational resources as well as delivering and facilitating sessions.

Shubhasree also manages the conceptualization and production of a digital project that runs on MAP’s YouTube channel called Art Sparks.  Art Sparks is MAP’s learning series for young people that advocates learning and thinking through the arts among children on a global scale.

As a new initiative by MAP Education, Shubhasree is also managing a team of 3 to conceptualize and develop a Museum In A Box toolkit catering to underprivileged school students in and around Bangalore.

Shubhasree studied History and Indian Art History, and her academic interests lie in material cultures of pre-modern South Asia, and in excavating everyday histories and stories of the mundane. Shubhasree has worked in museums and archives across Delhi, Mumbai and now Bangalore, from archiving and curatorial research to education and outreach.

During the ITP, Shubhasree was interested in learning more about strategies and best practices in building relationships with schools and ensuring their continued engagement. She was also looking forward to gaining a further understanding of building meaningful community engagements and driving programmes that will boost the local museum-going culture in Bengaluru.

At the British Museum

During her time at the British Museum, Shubhasree was based in the Department of Asia and her UK partner placement was spent at Glasgow Museums.
