Choki Tshomo

As Director at the Privy Council of Bhutan, Choki is responsible for keeping records and updating the activities of the Royal Families of Bhutan alongside researching issues and matters pertaining to Royal projects.

Choki’s professional interests focus on historic events, traditions and culture and in particular, the history of Bhutan’s museum. Choki is currently working on The Bhutan Development Museum which highlights the socio-economic development evolution of Bhutan and uses innovative and creative modern technologies in the exhibition galleries.

At the British Museum
During her time on the International Training Programme 2021, Choki was based in the Asia Department and her partner placement was spent at Norfolk Museums Service.

In 2021 participants were asked to plan and propose a temporary exhibition on the theme of journeys, drawing on their existing museum experience and the skills learnt during the programme.  Choki worked with Sopheara Chap (Cambodia) on her Object in focus project. Their exhibition proposal was titled Bosphorus boat crossings: Turkish shadow puppet journeys.
