Biography

Esmaeil has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Omar Mukhtar and now works as director of Museums in eastern Libya. He has been involved in many archaeological excavations, taking part in missions in the city of Cyrene and participating in archaeological surveys. He is particularly interested in registration, documentation, and methods of restoration.

At the British Museum
During his time on the International Training Programme in 2013, Esmaeil was based in the Department of Greece and Rome and his partner placement was spent at Birmingham Museums Trust.

In 2013 participants are asked to prepare a project outlining an exhibition proposal based on the space and programme for the British Museum’s Asahi Shimbun Displays in Room 3.  Esmaeil’s exhibition project proposal, working with his colleague Fawzeia Ihmouda (Libya), was entitled Cyrene Exhibition and Greek mythology.
