Olivia Xuan Zheng

Biography

As Assistant Research Fellow for the Museum Research Specialist at National Museum of China, Olivia is inspired by the goal of understanding audience psychology in order to develop and improve exhibitions. Her work responds to the National Museum of China’s focus on offering variety and recognising the public’s needs as multiple, with a large number of foreign visitors as well as a large resident audience of repeat visitors.

Olivia’s role includes some public relations and visitor services, as well as researching exhibitions to appeal to diverse audiences. She also has a background in graphic design.

In 2017, she was involved in the research preparations for the tour of the British Museum exhibition A History of the World in 100 Objects to National Museum of China.

At the British Museum
While attending the International Training Programme in 2015, Olivia was based in the Asia Department. Her UK Partner placement was spent with Bristol Museums, Galleries and Archives.

Olivia prepared her exhibition project proposal on Incomplete Beauty: Exotic Hong from China Jingdezhen 18th Century.

Olivia’s place on the International Training Programme was generously supported by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (UK).
