Noor Khan

Biography

Noor is currently working as an Assistant Research Officer at Peshawar Museum. Previously Noor worked as a Gallery Assistant in the Swat Archaeological Museum, where he was engaged in the cataloguing of Buddhist antiquities and ethnological materials. In addition to this, he did display work, record keeping and delivered lectures to the visitors and students of different schools, colleges and universities.

Noor’s personal and professional interests lie in the Buddhist art of Gandhara. As there are hundreds of Gandharan Buddhist sculptures in the British Museum, during his time on the International Training Programme Noor was eager to see and study their iconographic details.

During his time on the International Training Programme in 2016, Noor was based in the Department of Asia, and his partner placement was spent at Birmingham Museums Trust.

In 2016, participants were asked to develop a proposal for an Asahi Shimbun Display – a temporary exhibition in Room 3 at the British Museum – based around a single ‘spotlight’ object.  Noor’s exhibition project proposal was entitled Buddha in Stone: Continuity and Tradition.
