ITP Diary 6th August 2014 : Asmaa El-Rabat

In the beginning of the day I visited the library of the Department of Ancient Egypt and Sudan and learned about the system to search for a book, the library is very organized and very easy to use to find what I needed.

Also there are two things that are very special about the library. First, are the ladders used to bring the books from the top shelves. Second, you can leave your books on the table and write your name on a piece of paper and in the next day you will find it as you left it.

The explanation of using the library was very easy to understand and I saw this system before in the American Research Center in Egypt. I hope this system will be in the library of the Egyptian museum one day – I will use everything I learnt to improve it there.

After that, I went with my colleagues to the Organics Store with Dr.John Taylor. I had heard about him in Egypt and now I was face to face with him – he is a very famous writer. He told us a lot of information about the preservation of the objects in the storage, there are some things that are similar in the basement in the Egyptian Museum, but there are some things that need to be improved , for example using acid-free paper to protect the objects.
