MA Conference Leeds 2024: Fellows Reports

Written by George Peckham, Coordinator, International Training Programme

In November 2024 we invited five ITP fellows to join us at the Museums Association (MA) conference in Leeds.

The theme of the 2024 conference was The Joy of Museums. The theme aimed to celebrate the innovation and creativity that make museums incredible places. Speakers explored social and political issues and covered topics such as economic regeneration and the cost of the living crisis, museums’ role in health and wellbeing, the impact of discrimination, and engaging with communities with contested histories and marginalised groups.

Group photograph of eight people stood together.

As well as attending the confrerence, we had the opportunity to spend time in museums, galleries and heritage sites in around Leeds. Programme visits this year included Leeds Discovery Centre, Thackray Museum of Medicine, National Coal Mining Museum, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Saltaire.

We are excited to share the reports from the five fellows who joined us for the week-long programme in Leeds. Read about the experiences of each fellow by clicking their names below.
