Extending the BM ITP team

I am Ian Leins. I have just joined the ITP team at the British Museum to help Neal, Claire and Shezza with the 2012 programme. The ITP is one of the most important events in the Museum calendar, as it draws on our work with UK partners and colleagues from so many countries. I am delighted to have to opportunity to be involved this year.

I am based in the Department of Coins and Medals, where I curate the Iron Age and Roman coin collection. My main research interests surround the use of coins as a source for understanding the social and political history of Iron Age Britain – the subject of my recently completed PhD. I have worked in the Museum since 2000, having been a Museum Assistant, curator of the Money Gallery and also a specialist finds advisor to the Portable Antiquities Scheme. I am also an associate member of the Museum Association and the Director of the British Numismatic Society.

I look forward to meeting ITP participants, past and present. If you want to contact me, my email is: ileins@thebritishmuseum.ac.uk
