Hello from Hayk Mkrtchyan – Senior Fellow 2017

Hayk Mkrtchyan (Armenia, ITP 2014) Senior Fellow 2017

Dear Friends,

My name is Hayk Mkrtchyan (do not try to remember my surname it is too complicated) and I am from Armenia.

Hayk

I look forward to telling those of you coming on the ITP 2017 Summer Programme interesting stories about the place where I am come from.

Khor Virap

I participated in the ITP in 2014 and have been selected as the 2017 Senior Fellow.  Soon I will be in the great repository of human culture wishing to see old and new colleagues again.

In my homeland I am running a Museum Education Center where I coordinate various training programmes, which strengthen the professional skills of museum educators, who plan and implement educational programmes in Armenia.

One of my professional highlights has been running the international workshop Learning, Engagement, Museums, held in Yerevan from 24th – 28th October 2016. Together with local specialists, ITP fellows and experts from the UK and Germany existing trends in museums worldwide were shared in order to develop new strategies in audience engagement, and public and learning programmes. The workshop was possible due to active collaboration between Manchester Art Gallery (Manchester, England) and the British Museum (London, England) with generous support from Marie-Louise von Motesiczky Charitable Trust.

Currently I am managing the Association of Museum Workers and Friends in Armenia.

While in UK I will try my best to be useful to the 2017 ITP Fellows and hope to practice new skills upon returning to my home institutions after the programme.

I am very much excited and passionate about this new role!

Looking forward to meeting all the new Fellows in London soon.

Hayk
