MA Conference 2017: Day 1

Last night, the ITP team and our four visiting fellows were delighted to be joined by Jackie Bland (Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums), one of our UK partner representatives. And we were so happy to then bump into another UK partner rep at the Whitworth Art Gallery party: Sarah Gore from Norfolk Museums Service!

This morning, we all headed to the MA conference for the first of two days of keynotes, panel discussions and workshops, not to mention the conference exhibition.

The MA copied Joyee’s style!

This year’s focus is audiences, collections and workforce, and we have noticed recurring themes of: volunteering, diversity, decolonisation, national and international politics/current affairs, working with refugees and asylum seekers, and community participation.

As well as attending various talks relating to our individual subject and interest areas, we also met up to attend the ICOM networking lunch together, and some of us met Ronan Brindley from Manchester Art Gallery for a drink and debrief.
