Happy New Year and looking ahead to 2025

Written by George Peckham, Coordinator, International Training Programme

Happy New Year to the ITP Global Network! We wish you all a happy and successful 2025.

To start a year off, we wanted to share some of our plans we’re looking forward to in next 12 months.

2024 was another successful year for the ITP; it has been great to meet with so many fellows throughout the year for the Annual Programme, legacy projects, and informal catchups. To hear our reflections on the last 12 months, read our Season’s Greetings blog.

As always, we will be looking forward to welcoming a new cohort of ITP fellows to the global network for the next Annual Programme. The process for selecting participants for ITP 2025 is still ongoing, and we are working with our BM department representatives. Meanwhile, applications for the 2025 Senior Fellow have closed and we are excited to share who has been selected very soon.

We have a few more reports to share from 2024 in the coming weeks. At the end of 2024 we shared the 2024 ITP Annual Report with you all. We are still yet to share the individual reports from the 2024 fellows. These will be shared on the blog over the coming weeks. I am currently finalising our report from the 2024 Museums Association Conference and well also be sharing the reports written by the five fellows who joined us in Leeds.

We intend to return to the MA Conference once again in 2025, which will be held in Cardiff! More information about this will be shared when more details about the conference are announced. Stay tuned for calls for applications later this year!

Claire has been wrapping up our Research and Conference Grants for 2024 and we’re looking forward to sharing some more of the reports from our fellows who received grants last year. We will be sharing a new call for applications for our ITP Conference and Research Grants. If you have a place at a conference or a research proposal that needs additional financial support, we might be able to help you. In 2025 we’ll be setting more funds aside to support our ITP network so keep checking the ITP blog for more information!

In October we announced the call for submissions for the 12th ITP Newsletter. The theme for the 2025 newsletter is Accessibility and Inclusion and is being co-edited by Yanoa Pomalima Carrasco (Peru, ITP Fellow 2022, Senior Fellow 2024). The call for submissions is currently open until the end of January and can be viewed on the blog. We’d love to hear from you!

We intend to restart our online subject specialist sessions in 2025! From 2020 – 2022 we ran a series of online workshops, lectures and discussions which proved very popular with the network. Working with the ITP Advisory Board, we are planning a new series of online sessions, and we are excited to share more information about this soon.

Speaking of the Advisory Board, we are thrilled to be organising the Board’s first in person meeting in 2025. We are excited to welcome back our AB members to London to discuss the future of the ITP. This will be followed by attending the 2025 ICOM UK Conference, which will be held in Liverpool.

Over the next 12 months, we hope that the ITP continues to support and engage our network. If you have ideas or thoughts you would like to share with us, please don’t hesitate to contact us at any time.
