We’re very excited to share the Object in focus projects from the 2025 ITP annual programme, which can be explored on a new page on the website.
Object in focus 2025
As an ongoing project throughout the six-week programme, fellows were asked to use their existing skills and experience, and the knowledge gained throughout the annual programme, to create, develop, and propose a new interpretation for an object currently on display in the British Museum. Working in their departmental groups, with an object chosen by their departmental mentors, the fellows created a label and text panel, and other supporting material to help their object ‘speak’. This version of the Object in focus project has been inspired by the Museum’s ongoing programme to redisplay its galleries as part of the Masterplan.
Seven project redisplays were presented. The proposals were presented in an evening with British Museum staff, supporters, and members of the global ITP network. For the first time in this format, the supporters’ reception was held in the Museum’s Wellcome Trust Gallery. The evening was a huge success and it was great to see some many colleagues, from both in the Museum and from around the UK, in attendance.
