Opportunity: Apply now for ITP+ and ICOM UK Conference 2026
Application deadline: Midday GMT Monday 15 December 2025
Travel dates: 11 – 19 April 2026
For the first time since 2019, the ITP is running an ITP+ course! ITP+ courses are week-long workshops on a selected theme, focusing on a specific part of the ITP annual programme and in response to challenges in the global museum and heritage sector.
In 2026 we would like to invite 5 ITP fellows to join us between 11 – 19 April 2026 to participate in an ITP+ course focusing on global engagement and cultural diplomacy.
This course will explore how museums can act as agents of cultural connection, collaboration, and dialogue in a rapidly changing world. Participants will engage with case studies, practical exercises, and expert-led discussions focusing on:
• Cultural diplomacy and soft power
• International partnerships and exchange
• Inclusive and ethical global engagement
• Responding to global challenges through museum practice
The course will take place across three days at the British Museum in London with session facilitators from the British Museum and other UK institutions.
The programme will then continue in Oxford, where the group will attend the ICOM UK 2026 Annual Conference: Museum Diplomacy in Action.
There will also be opportunities to spend time at museums, galleries and heritage sites both in London and Oxford.
There will be a maximum of 5 places for this opportunity to enable productive discussions, networking and potential collaborations with places awarded through an open and competitive application process.
If you would like to apply for this opportunity, please complete the form attached and return it to itp@britishmuseum.org by midday GMT on Monday 15 December 2025.
To apply for this opportunity, you must have already attended the British Museum’s International Training Programme six-week annual programme.
