With Ayman al-Shweiki, Cultural Heritage Professional and Master’s Student, Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus–Senftenberg (Palestine, ITP Fellow 2012)

In the museum and heritage sector we find ourselves in a very changed context with big challenges ahead. This very important session will provide a comprehensive overview of the socio-economic impact of heritage and its impact on cultural policies, particularly government funding, for the heritage field.

Ayman’s presentation looked at the development of a heritage-related impact assessment and its reciprocal influence on other core issues such as sustainable development. This session included an overview of the evaluation of the concept of heritage; heritage impact and valuation; the role of arts and culture in the economy; heritage-related impact assessments in the context of public policy and decision making and heritage impacts and their valuation methodologies.
