A trip to Liverpool…..
We were delighted that Burhan Abd al-Reda and Qahtan al-Obeed – curators from Iraq also on the Training Programme – joined us for a trip to Liverpool on Saturday with Xu Jing and Sun Yue.
We began in the Beatles Story, one of Liverpool’s most popular cultural attractions where, with Beatles music constantly blasting out from the sound system, we sat in a replica of the Cavern Club and learned about one of the world’s most famous bands.
We walked around Tate Liverpool before taking in the sites around Albert Dock. The sun finally appeared as we wandered into the city, and walked round the streets trying to find superlambbanana. The giant yellow sculpture is one of Liverpool’s most recognisable symbols, and yet it is hidden from the main shopping street. As you can see, despite the trek, we were all still smiling by the time we found it.
